  Says NCC is Unconstitutional  •••2027 Aspirants Lobby for Party Nods The State Working Committee (SWC) of Labour Party met during an emergency meeting on  Sunday to address imminent development  in the state, which bothers on the party to immediately react for record purposes.  Top on the agenda is the sudden death of the First Lady of Akwa Ibom State, Her Excellency, Pastor (Mrs) Patience Umo Eno, which the party had already released an official condolence message to the Governor and the family.  Another was to draw the  attention of the loyal Labour Party members, enthusiast, lovers, friends and the general public, to disregard, ignore and treat as fake news to misinform, disparage and abuse their minds. Some funny individuals gathered at the instance of the former governorship candidate of the party in the just concluded 2023 general election to confer on him the position  of the Leader of the party  without the clear knowledge and permission or clearance from the SWC of the party

  The State Chairman of Labour Party in Akwa Ibom, Honourable Lincoln Charles has reaffirmed his party's loyalty and total support for Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party despite the purported distractions from some quarters.  Speaking with The Eyes Portal Newspapers in Uyo last weekend, Honourable Lincoln Charles mentioned that the party's position in Akwa Ibom is to support and remain  loyal to Mr Abure's led national Chairmanship, warning that any member in the state with an opposing  view will be suspended from the party for insubordination.  "Our position as a party in Akwa Ibom State is to remain loyal to Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of Labour Party. This is our resolve. Any Labour Party member in Akwa Ibom State that wishes to oppose this unanimous decision of the party will be suspended for insubordination. That is the fact."      The Commissioner of Police for Akwa Ibom State, Waheed Ayilara is dead. Ayilara died early this morning, Thursday, 29 August, 2024 at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja. Our correspondent gathered that he went for a prostate cancer surgery which took place on Wednesday, 28 August, 2024 before he eventually died early Thursday, 29 August, 2024. Colleagues told thegazellenews.com that he was hale and hearty on Monday, 26 August, 2024, during the pull out ceremony for Assistant Inspector General of Police, Yetunde Longe. “In actual fact, he walked into the hospital on Wednesday for the surgery, but unfortunately we lost him,” thegazellenews.com gathered. He will be buried today, Thursday, 29 August, 2024 in accordance with Islamic rites. A devoted Muslim, Ayilara acted as the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State before he was posted to Akwa Ibom in substantive capacity.

Former Edo State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday, voided the impeachment of Phillip Shuaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State. Justice Omotosho, while delivering judgment in the suit, ordered that Shaibu be reinstated to office because the Edo State House of Assembly failed to comply with due process in impeaching him. Justice Omotosho also set aside the appointment of the new Deputy Governor who replaced Shaibu. The court held that the allegation on which the House of Assembly based the impeachment proceedings was untenable in law and did not constitute gross misconduct.
