Udom Emmanuel in EFCC Net Over ‘N700bn Fraud’

Udom Emmanuel  Udom Emmanuel, a former governor of Akwa Ibom, has been arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged N700 billion fraud. TheCable understands that the former governor was taken into custody shortly after he arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday around 12:30 pm. Emmanuel was at the EFCC headquarters to honour an invitation over the allegation of money laundering, diversion of funds and stealing preferred against him by Network Against Corruption and Trafficking (NCAT), a civil society organisation (CSO). Sources within the EFCC said the petitioner alleged that the former governor received N3 trillion from the federation Account in eight years but left a debt profile of N500 billion and unpaid ongoing projects worth N300 billion in Akwa Ibom state. ICPC decries corruption in constituency, executive projects in A'Ibom

  The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) team tracking constituency and executive projects has decried massive corruption in Akwa Ibom state.  The ICPC team which is tracking 22 projects of total contract sum of N22billion in the state complained of poor delivery and duplication of projects in budgets. The 7th phase of the exercise is carried out in conjunction with the National Institute of Quantity surveyors, a non governmental organization known as Budgit and the media.  Leader of the team, Okuku Okam said a particular road project first awarded in 2010 has been repeated in successive budgets upto last year, adding that so much money has been expended on the road by the federal government.   The NNPC/MPN JV EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust - EMOIMEE HCDT has officially kick started the processes to award contracts to deserving bidders who submitted tenders for various contracts in Mkpat Enin local government area.  In a tender box opening ceremony held at Eket local government area yesterday, 100 tenders was confirmed in the presence of the various bidders for the 35 lots that will be awarded to successful contractors in the first phase of the bidding process.  Addressing the bidders, the Head of the EMOIMEE HCDT Management Committee, Dr Linus Okon, charged those that will be selected to be sincere in managing every fund that will be given to them for the jobs.  He said the Committee will stop at nothing to fish out anyone found wanting during and after the exercise.  On his part, the Committee's Secretary, Joshua Ndoho, mentioned that the exercise was in line with the Petroleum Industry Act, and contractors must be indigenes of Mkpat...

Breaking: Gov Umo Eno Approves N80,000 Minimum Wage For Civil Servants

   •Constitutes Implementation Committee The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, has announced that the State Government will pay a new minimum wage of N80,000 for all state government employees.  To ensure a smooth rollout of this policy, the governor has also constituted an implementation committee, which has been given one month to deliver its report on how the wage increase will be executed.
