NNPC/MPN JV EMOIMEE HCDT Begins Process For Contract Awards in Mkpat Enin LG

 


The NNPC/MPN JV EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust - EMOIMEE HCDT has officially kick started the processes to award contracts to deserving bidders who submitted tenders for various contracts in Mkpat Enin local government area. 

In a tender box opening ceremony held at Eket local government area yesterday, 100 tenders was confirmed in the presence of the various bidders for the 35 lots that will be awarded to successful contractors in the first phase of the bidding process. 

Addressing the bidders, the Head of the EMOIMEE HCDT Management Committee, Dr Linus Okon, charged those that will be selected to be sincere in managing every fund that will be given to them for the jobs. 

He said the Committee will stop at nothing to fish out anyone found wanting during and after the exercise. 

On his part, the Committee's Secretary, Joshua Ndoho, mentioned that the exercise was in line with the Petroleum Industry Act, and contractors must be indigenes of Mkpat Enin local government area. 

He explained further that the process will be thoroughly carried out from bid opening to evaluation by the Evaluation and Tender Committee of the Management Committee, after which recommendations will be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for the contracts to be issued to the deserving contractors. 

More so, a member of the Management Committee from Mkpat Enin local government area, Rev Obot Ekanem while lauding the people for conducting themselves from the inception of the EMOIMEE HCDT programmes, tasked those that will be selected to work closely with the consultant for job specification. 

He warned that contractors that would go contrary to the job specifications will risk not being paid, and assured that a second phase will be open for tenders in 2025. 

Speaking further, the Consultant from Mkpat Enin local government area, Elder Emmanuel Jacobs noted that part of the purpose of the event was to streamline procurement best practices for the tenders. 

He reiterated that bidding tender advertisements was done for two weeks from October 3 to October 17, 2024, with five days extension in all the catchment local government areas, disclosing that out of 127 tenders that was applied for, only 100 was received for the 35 Lots that will be awarded for the first phase of the contracts. 

Elder Jacobs while  advising prospective contractors to pay adequate attention to job specifications, pleaded with the benefitting communities to embrace the projects and cooperate with contractors for their own good. 

Highpoint of the ceremony was the official opening of the tender box, sorting of submitted tenders and handing over of tenders to the Management Committee for evaluation.
