Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari has Coronavirus, Buhari tests negative

President, Muhammadu Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, has reportedly tested positive to coronavirus. A new  report by ThisDay  has it that Kyari who recently tested positive was at a meeting on containing the COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria all through Sunday, where he reportedly started to cough. Subsequently, he voluntarily submitted himself for testing and was informed of his status yesterday. Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari has tested negative for the COVID-19 virus (Coronavirus), following a test for the disease that was carried out yesterday on the president by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC),  THISDAY reports . The NCDC has informed the president on the outcome his negative result this morning in Abuja. According to presidential sources, the test for the president was necessitated after his Chief of Staff, Mr. Abba Kyari tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday. Coronavirus: Edo govt shuts down schools

Following the upswing of coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Nigeria, the Edo State Government has directed that all schools in the state, including primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, be shut down with effect from Monday, March 23, 2020. In a statement, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., said, “While we enjoin citizens and residents not to panic, we call on them to adhere to recommended hygiene instructions on frequent handwashing and use of alcohol-based sanitizers as well as guidelines on social distancing. “Government’s Action Committee on COVID-19 would unveil the full response plan within the next 24 hours.”

52 The General overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, on Sunday said the deadly Coronavirus (Covid-19) will not die. Speaking during a live broadcast, Adeboye said the disease will only subside. The cleric maintained that although some prophets had claimed that the disease will be wiped out by rain, coronavirus will not die. Recall that Prophet T B Joshua had on March 2nd revealed that he had a vision that the killer virus will be wiped out. JUST IN: Federal Ministry of Health confirms 10 new cases of coronavirus in Nigeria

10 The Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) has confirmed 10 (ten) new cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Nigeria. The ministry made the announcement via a release signed by the Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire. According to the ministry, there are three new cases in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and seven new cases in Lagos State. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 22. According to the release, “All 10 new cases are Nigerian nationals; nine of them have travel history to the Canada, France, Netherlands, Spain and United Kingdom. They returned to the country in the past one week. The tenth case is a close contact of a previously confirmed case. “The three cases in the FCT are being treated at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital (UATH), Gwagwalada while the 7 (seven) new cases in Lagos are being treated at the Infectious Disease Hospital (IDH), Yaba. The governor, who announced that “all public and private schools and institutions in Ekiti State are to close down from Monday, March 23”, also directed that “all non-essential workers in private and public sectors are encouraged to work from home from Monday, March 23”. No confirmed case of Corona Virus in A'Ibom- Health Commissioner

The Akwa Ibom State Government has dismissed as false the news peddled on some media platforms that the State has recorded confirmed cases of novel Corona Virus. The Akwa Ibom State Government made this known today, Friday through the Commissioner for Health, Dr Dominic Ukpong while addressing the press. While describing the rumour as outright mischief, the Health Commissioner noted " For emphasis, let me state here,categorically and unambiguously, that there is no confirmed case of covID-19 infection in Akwa lbom State as I speak to you." He explained that before the first confirmed case in Nigeria was reported, Akwa lbom State Government had, through the Ministry of Health, initiated measures to prevent the outbreak and contain the infection in the event of an outbreak in the State. BREAKING: Appeal Court Reinstates Ifeanyi Ubah

The Court of Appeal, Abuja Division, on Thursday nullified the judgment of a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory delivered on January 17, 2020, which ordered the removal of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah as lawmaker representing Anambra South Senatorial District at the National Assembly. The appellate court held that Ubah was duly elected by people of his senatorial district. Delivering judgment in a motion on notice by Ubah where he raised jurisdictional issues on the competence of unsigned court processes by the respondents, Justice Stephen Adah leading a three-man panel said the motion “had merit and the reliefs are fully granted”. Ubah had argued through his lawyer, Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN), that the trial judge, Bello Kawu, assumed jurisdiction in the case when in fact there were no valid processes before him to confer jurisdiction on him. Ubah contested the election on the platform of Young Progressive Party. 

NNPC confirms fuel price reduction, reveals new cost, commencement date

The Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has announced that it had reviewed its Ex-coastal, Ex-depot and NNPC Retail pump prices. Mele Kyari, Group Managing Director, NNPC confirmed this in a statement he personally signed Wednesday evening. The release made available to DAILY POST noted that the development was compliance with the directives of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva on PMS pricing. Kyari noted that effective 19th March 2020, NNPC, Ex-Coastal price for PMS has been reviewed downwards from N117.6/litre to N99.44/litre. Similarly, Ex-Depot price is reduced from N133.28/litre to N113.28/litre. He said these reductions will therefore translate to N125/litre retail pump price. Kyari added that despite “the obvious cost implication of this immediate adjustment to the Corporation, NNPC is delighted to effect this massive reduction of N20/litre for the benefit of all Nigerians. “Accordingly, all NNPC Retail stations nationwide h

AKSG orders arrest, prosecution of roadside traders along Airport Road

The Akwa Ibom State government has ordered security operatives to arrest anyone found selling or displaying wares along the Airport Road in Uyo, the state capital. The Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources, Rt. Hon (Barr) Ekong Sampson Ph.D, gave the directive yesterday while visiting the Airport Road to clear the illegal roadside trading. The Commissioner described as worrisome and unbearable the fact that traders abandone various markets in the Metropolis only to display their wares on major highways where vehicles are plying on high-speed. The Environment Commissioner while condemning the acts, disclosed that he has warned the erring traders against doing businesses on the airport road as days of grace for such risky trading is gone. He maintained that the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel will stop at nothing in protecting lives and properties of Akwa Ibom people, as well as preserving a serene and peaceful state for the good of all.

After two weeks of a bitter power struggle in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the reinstated National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, on Tuesday toed the path of reconciliation, saying he is ready to work with party leaders, irrespective of ideological differences. A Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court in Jabi on March 4 had ordered the suspension of Mr Oshiomhole as APC chairman, pending the determination of a substantive suit. The court order blew wide open the simmering crisis in the party as the contending forces showed their hands. At a meeting in Abuja, four ministers joined a group of leaders of the party from Mr Oshiomhole’s South-south region to call for his sack and replacement by Victor Giadom, the deputy national secretary who had announced his take over of the party’s national secretariat.
