2023: Accord installs Party structures, flags- off state Secretariat •••Nat Chairman Roots For A'bom President

The Chairman of Accord in Akwa Ibom state, Engr. Martins Inyang has broken the record of over a decade of the political party's existence in the state by establishing structures from unit to state levels in readiness for the 2023 general elections on time and establishing a befitting state Secretariat for the party.

Dignitaries who attended the flag-off of the state party office along 2 lanes, Uyo described him as an  astute and focused politician who has large following at the grassroots.

Flagging- off the party's Secretariat and hoisting the flag, the National Chairman of Accord, Alhaji Muhammad Lawal Nalado said he and the national executive members of the party were very proud  of Engr. Martin Inyang's commitment to excellence and making a difference in the party.

" This party has been in Akwa Ibom for over a decade but I have never had the opportunity to come here and embark on this kind of important activity because previous exco of the party were not as dynamic as what we have now. I sincerely thank the new Chairman and his exco members for their cooperation that has made this happen. It is my prayer that this kind of synergy will continue between them and all members of our great party in the state, so that come 2023 elections, Accord will  for the first time produce the Governor of Akwa Ibom state"  The National Chairman noted.

Speaking further on the integrity and capacity of Martins Inyang to deliver he said " My path and that Martins Inyang crossed when I was National Chairman of IPAC and he was the Akwa Ibom state Chairman of IPAC. Just like me he secured a second term as Chairman of IPAC after a superlative performance in his first term. As IPAC Chairman, Martins for the fist time brought all state chairmen in the soutj-south and south-east for a retreat in Uyo. After this outing it has not happened again. I am sure he will take our party to the level of success we anticipate. Although I don't attend State Congresses but because of the exceptional leader we know Martins Inyang is, I promise to attend the Congress in Akwa Ibom.

Accord National Chairman who described himself as a son of the soil in Akwa Ibom traced his connection to Akwa Ibom many years ago adding that his love for Akwa Ibom made him to attract all meetings of IPAC to Akwa Ibom when he was national Chairman of IPAC

Making a case for an Akwa Ibom person to be the President in 2023, he explained that " Akwa Ibom and Katsina were created in 1987 by the then  military Head of states, General Ibrahim Babangida. Katsina does not have gold or crude oil. But it has produced two presidents, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and President Muhammadu Buhari. On the other hand , Akwa Ibom has large deposits of crude oil and this crude oil is a major source of income to Nigeria. It means this state is feeding the nation, yet has not produced a president. I think the time has come for Akwa Ibom to produce a president. It is my prayer that when the slot will get to Akwa Ibom I will be healthy and strong, so that, I will campaign for the candidate from Akwa Ibom state and I hope it will happen in 202,3"

Thanking the members of Accord for the reception and large turn-out at the event , he urged them to  patiently work for the party's succes, so that life can be better for them and all Nigerians

" On my honor, I can promise you that we will not be like those who went round the country to make promises they knew they could never fulfil. We offer hope for a better secured Nigeria, a Nigeria where our youths will be made productive by creating jobs for them. The truth is that most of our youths engage in crime because after their studies, they can't find jobs. Some  may be patient to wait for a job but there may be others who will rather join bad gangs to commit crime .This is the main cause of insecurity in Nigeria"Nalado stated.

The National Chairman expressed hope that the present security challenges in the country will be surmounted through prayers noting that " Nigeria is a religious country and when we go to our places of worship to pray, I am sure God answers. This is how God has helped us to defeat Boko Haram to an extent. You know that when Boko Haran started, bombings were taking place in Abuja and Lagos but now they have been pushed to a little territory in one state. This is the same way God will help to defeat this heartless bandits"

In an address at the occasion, the Chairman of Accord in Akwa Ibom state, Engr. Martins Inyang said in readiness for elections and to solidly position Accord as a a party of choice any day, he stated that the structure of the party has been established from unit to state level

" The proof of the work we have done so far is the number of people gathered for today's event. It is because we have to reduce the number of people in adherence to covid-19 protocols, otherwise you would have seen a larger crowd here. We had to reduce the number of people from the ,31 local government areas of Akwa Ibom state and the 329 wards of the state."he said

According to Inyang, 2023, being a zero election year where incumbents will not be contesting for a re-election, Accord will make great inroads into the political terrain of Akwa Ibom.

" Our dear national Chairman, let me assure you that come 2023, if INEC plays by the rules, we will put up a contest. We are ready for elections. Our structure are top-notch and fully ready. I can assure you that in 2023, the state assembly will be mixed with Accord. With your support we will achieve the road- map for success that we have drawn- up in Akwa Ibom state" he promised

On his part, the Special Adviser, Political and Social Reorientation, Akwa Ibom state, Mr. Amanam Nkanga, represented by the Head of Mobilization, Dr. Oscar Joshua in a vote of thanks commended the national Chairman and other exco members for organizing Accord very well.

He spoke glowingly of the Chairman in Akwa Ibom state, Engr. Martins Inyang, noting that he is a go-getter, astute politician, a grassroots leader  that will deliver on the aims and objectives of Accord

Joshua noted  that Engr. Martins Inyang did well as a two term Chairman of IPAC and will transfer that experience to his new assignment

Also giving credence to the capacity of Engr. Inyang, the State Chairman of IPAC, Rev. Aniebet Emmanuel said, Engr. Martins Inyang is a dependable leader and that is why they all came out as chairmen of various parties in the state to support him at the event

He said it is because of the excellent leadership he provided as IPAC Chairman that they still return to him for advice as present leaders of IPAC.

High point of the event was presentation of party flags and appointment letters to chapter chairmen, with a charge for them to go and mobilize huge support for Accord in their various  local government areas.

In an acceptance speech, the Chapter chairman of Udung uko local government area, on behalf of other chapter chairmen pledged their unalloyed support to the party and promised to work hard for the party to win elections at the state and local government areas in 2023.

Other national leaders of the party who graced the event were, the National Legal Adviser, National Vice Chairman, North Central, State Chairmen of Accord in Edo and Bayelsa states and state chairmen of various political parties in Akwa Ibom state.
