Nurses under the aegis of the Nigeria Opthalmic Nurses Association ( NONA) Akwa Ibom State  have described the allegations that nurses in the Akwa Ibom State Government Eye Clinic sell glasses frames and lenses without the prescription of an Optometrist to patients as cheap  lies and a wicked plot to blackmail hardworking nurses committed to saving lives. Refuting claims in "The Will" newspaper of December 5th, 2021 in which trained and professional nurses were referred to as quacks and fraudsters, the nurses noted that the content of the report were derogatory, malicious and libelous, because the story did not in anyway mention the name of any nurse involved in the racketeering, neither did it mention the name of a patient who  bought the frames or lens.
