Breaking: Gov Udom Sacks Chief Of Staff over 2023 Senate, Governorship Clash of Interest

Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has sacked his Chief of Staff over what pundits noticed as clash of interest in Senate and governorship interests between the duo.

In a release signed by the Secretary to the Government of Akwa Ibom State, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem and made public today Tuesday February 22, 2022, the Governor noted that the sack is necessitated by urgent need to match skill set and competencies to the task of maintaining the momentum of economic development in peace.

However, pundits believe the sack may not be unconnected to the recent declaration and expression of interest for the Eket Senatorial District race by Mr Inyang-eyen and his stance for the governorship position against that of his former boss, Udom Emmanuel.

However, given the urgent need to match skill set and competencies to the task of maintaining the momentum of economic development in peace, your services are no longer required and you are hereby relieved of your position, as Chief of Staff ( CoS) to His Excellency, the Governor with immediate effect. You are therefore directed to handover all property of government in your possession, to the Secretary to State Government.

Senator OBA Dumps YPP, Defects To APC In A'Ibom...Senate President, Others on Ground for Reception

The Senate President Godswill Akpabio and 10 senators are expected to receive the 2023 governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Albert, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, Friday, in Akwa Ibom. A source, who disclosed this to PREMIUM TIMES, said the event will take place in the afternoon at Mr Akpabio’s hometown, Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. “The senators are already in town, they are lodging at a hotel in Ikot Ekpene.
