MMI Makes Case for Oku Iboku-Ikot Ayan Itam- Ibiaku Uruan - Ndue Otong Oku Road

Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, the foremost Sociocultural organization in the South South Region of Nigeria has called on the federal government to ameliorate the hardship the masses of Nigeria are going through as a result of the present economic woes befalling the nation, the organization made the plea during their 54th general assembly and 37th anniversary of the birth of the group at The International Secretariat, Udoudoma House, Udoudoma Avenue in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Capital. The occasion which featured the induction of 57 new members from Chapters all over the world afforded the organization to honour founding members, also featured a thanksgiving service at St. Louis Catholic Church Mbiokporo in Nsit Ibom Local Government Area of the state.

In a Communiqué issued at the end of the event and made available to Newsmen, the general assembly of the organization called on The Federal Government to look into and take a proactive decision on the continued suffering of the generality of Nigeria as a result of the biting economy woes befalling the nation, they acknowledged the constitutional rights of the masses to demand for their rights through a peaceful protest but frowned at hoodlums hijacking it to loot and cause mayhem in the society. The group urged the Federal Government to prioritize the reconstruction of Calabar -Itu federal highway which is causing commuters untold hardships and is a shame to the nation as a road that was built over forty years ago is now a death trap and impassable in spite of the economic importance to nation .

The organization lauded the state governor Pastor Umo Eno for his humane attitude to governance, exemplified by his sincere efforts of offsetting arrears of gratuities to civil servants and prompt payment of salaries and pensions.

In his opening address to members, The 11th International President of the organization, Akparawa James Edet ( NPOM) in a rendition entitled “Ibibio Race in a Pickle: Need to Reawaken The Ubuntu (Edidiana kiet) Consciousness Amongst Mboho Members “ revered the founding fathers, the living ancestors and the departed for their vision of bringing Mkparawa Ibibio together, he enumerated his achievements for the last two years as including clearing the arrears of salaries of 8 to 9 months at The Mboho Unity Schools and the International Secretariat. He acknowledged the philanthropic gestures of various individuals and chapters of the organization in the upliftment of the physical structures of the group which includes but not limited to Manchester chapter, Dallas chapter, Itu chapter, Abak chapter for provision of books, desks, school bags, halls, ICT Center, Research and Development center among others. Akparawa James Edet announced to the assembly, the conversion of The yet to materialize Mboho Micro Finance Bank into Mboho Multi- purpose Cooperation Society with all the contributions of member in the Micro Finance Bank converted to shares in the Cooperative Society.

The two year account of the organization was presented to the house Assembly to the last Kobo to the applause of members. The International President announced the readiness of the group to expand to Dublin, Berlin, Uyo Metropolis, Ikorodu, 

The climax of the general assembly was the induction of 57 new members from numerous chapters into the organization as they gleefully took their oaths of office..
