A'Ibom LP declares support for Abure , • As party targets LG election victory

 

The State Chairman of Labour Party in Akwa Ibom, Honourable Lincoln Charles has reaffirmed his party's loyalty and total support for Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the party despite the purported distractions from some quarters. 

Speaking with The Eyes Portal Newspapers in Uyo last weekend, Honourable Lincoln Charles mentioned that the party's position in Akwa Ibom is to support and remain  loyal to Mr Abure's led national Chairmanship, warning that any member in the state with an opposing  view will be suspended from the party for insubordination. 

"Our position as a party in Akwa Ibom State is to remain loyal to Mr Julius Abure as the National Chairman of Labour Party. This is our resolve. Any Labour Party member in Akwa Ibom State that wishes to oppose this unanimous decision of the party will be suspended for insubordination. That is the fact."

He averred that the purported extended stakeholders meeting that will be convened by Gov Alex Otti of Abia State and the former Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi is not the true decision of the National Working Committee of the Labour Party and called on faithfuls of the party in the state to disregard such meetings. 

Honourable Charles highlighted that 70 per cent of the attendees of the purported meeting will be non members of the party, hence any decision taken will not reflect the position of the party. 

He mentioned that the national convention of the labour party that was held in Nnewi, Anambra state in March 2024 has been upheld by a court of competent jurisdiction, saying that no member of the party has any right to void such decision 

The Akwa Ibom State Labour Party helmsman  lauded labour party members in Akwa Ibom State for their commitment and support to the party during the 2023 general elections, stating that the party is still enjoying same support presently in the State. 

On the forthcoming October 5th local government elections in Akwa Ibom State, Honourable Lincoln mentioned that his party filed the right set of Chairmanship and Councillorship candidates in some local governments and wards for the election. He assured that his party will not just participate in the elections, but will win good number of seats.

He declared optimism that the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission led by Elder Aniedi Ikoiwak will give every political party a level playing grounds, adding that Labour Party will be victorious and give Akwa Ibom good governance. 

"You see the forthcoming local government election in Akwa Ibom State, we have done our home work, fixed credible and capable candidates for Chairmanship and Councillorship  in some wards and local governments. We are not just coming to register our presence in the election, no, we will win and give the people dividends of good governance."

"I am optimistic that AKISIEC will remain unbiased as they have promised all the political parties. If a level playing grounds is given to every political party without sentiments, Labour Party will win majority of local governments and wards."
