Akwa Ibom Epidemiologist Sacked for Taking Samples of Covid 19 Suspected Cases Against Health Commissioner's Wishes

 Akwa Ibom State Epidemiologist, Dr Aniekeme Uwah has been removed from office for taking samples of COVID – 19 suspected cases against the wishes of the Commissioner for Health, Dr Dominic Inyang Ukpong.  news shock sack has further deepened accusations of an ongoing rift between the state government and  health in the state. However, the Akwa  Ibom State Epidemiologist Dr Aniekeme Uwah has allegedly banged phone on the Governor of  Akwa Ibom State and has consequently switched off his phone lines... All efforts to reach the Health Commissioner prove abortive as he allegedly refused to pick our phone calls.

After three years of struggling with diabetes, one of President Muhammadu Buhari’s bodyguards, Warrant Officer Lawal Mato, on Tuesday passed away. The President described the officer, who had been working with him for many years before he won the 2015 elections, as “very thorough, trustworthy and dependable soldier who carried out his duty with diligence and focus.’’ President Buhari prayed that Allah will ease his passage to paradise and grant his family, government and people of Jigawa State, the fortitude to bear the loss.  The police have arrested nine persons for alleged involvement in a crisis which claimed four lives, including a pregnant woman in Ungwan Tiv village, Lugbe, a satellite town in the Federal Capital Territory.  An unidentified policeman was said to have also lost his car in the violence. It was gathered that many structures were razed during the incident which occurred after three scavengers allegedly attacked and killed a pregnant woman for accusing them of stealing her missing cooking pot last Thursday. A resident, Joshua Michael, narrated to our correspondent on Monday that the violence erupted after the scavengers allegedly stabbed the unidentified woman to death following arguments over the missing pot. “Some scavengers were said to have stolen a cooking pot belonging to a pregnant woman. Considering the pivotal role played by the Traders in the Economic Ecosystem of our dear state and their inevitable contributions to the reduction process of the negative effect of the global ravaging pandemic, Covid-19 on the lives of our people, the Akwa Ibom State Traders Association of Nigeria, has ordered the immediate suspension of the sales of tickets in markets across the State. In a statement issued on Friday 17th April, 2020 by the President of the Association, who doubles as the Special Assistant to the Governor on Traders Matters, Akparawa Idorenyin Raphael, directed Market Management Committees from across the state to cease forthwith, the sales of all form of tickets in their respective Markets as this will help ameliorate the impact of the discomfort and sufferings ocassioned by the 'fatal fangs of one of the most virulent pandemics in recent history - Covid-19'. Covid 19: Olumba Olumba Obu Disburses Cash Gifts, Food Items to BCS Priests in A'Ibom
