Mkpat Enin EMOIMEE HCDT distributes equipment, drugs to Ikot Abia, Ikot Akata hospitals

 

The NNPC/MPC-JV EMOIMEE Host Community Development Trust (HCDT), Mkpat Enin Chapter has donated hospital equipment and drugs worth millions of Naira to the Cottage Hospital, Ikot Abia in Ukpum Minya clan, and Primary Health Center, Ikot Akata, Ikpa Ibom clan.

The donations took place at the two hospitals last Monday in Mkpat Enin local government area 

Speaking during the handing over of the hospital equipment at the two hospitals, the Management Executive Representative for EMOIMEE Mkpat Enin local government area, Rev. Obot Ekanem stated that the donations of the hospital equipment was inline with the Petroleum Industry Acts as signed by the previous administration of Late President Buhari, explaining that the gesture was done based on the needs assessment of the oil-rich communities 

He lauded the Medical Consultant, Prof. Etete Peters for the quality equipment acquired for the two hospitals and urged both the communities and hospital staff to make good use of the equipment for their own good. 

On his part, the Secretary, EMOIMEE Management Committee, Dr Joshua Ndoho expressed pleasure over the medical equipments handed over to the cottage hospital Ikot Abia, and the Primary Health Center, Ikot Akata, and expressed optimism that the equipment will be put to use for the good of the people in the community. 



He reiterated that EMOIMEE is poised to  ensuring that the living standard of the people in the oil rich communities is prioritized 

 He emphasized that there will be regular checks to ensure proper protection and purposeful usage of the hospital equipment. 

Reacting to the gesture in unison, the resident doctor, Dr Okpo Asuquo of the Cottage Hospital Ikot Abia, and Matron, Primary Health Center, Ikot Akata, Mrs Mabel Nichodemus thanked the Mkpat Enin EMOIMEE Committee for coming to the aid of the hospitals, explaining that the hospitals were  an eyesore both materially and structure wise before the intervention




While pledging to use the equipment for the good of the communities, they noted that with the quality of equipment and drugs donated to the hospitals, the communities will enjoy good health and better living. 

Speaking further, the village head of Ikot Obio Akai, Etidung (Hon) Nse Effiong Ukpe thanked the EMOIMEE Committee in Mkpat Enin for their sincerity in salvaging the poor standard of the hospitals, and pleaded that a medical doctor should be sent to the Primary Health Center, Ikot Akata, for more productivity in the hospital. 

Responding on behalf of Ikot Abia village, the community representative, Mr Emmanuel Akai thanked the EMOIMEE Committee in Mkpat Enin local government area for equipping the hospitals for  the good of the communities, adding that the village will stop at nothing in protecting the hospital for optimal use. 

The EMOIMEE consultant for Mkpat Enin local government area, Obong Emmanuel Jacobs called on the people to take ownership of the equipment donated by EMOIMEE, noting that if they maintain the equipment, more things will come to the community.  

Dignitaries at the presentation events were, the Secretary Management Committee of EMOIMEE, Dr Joshua Ndoho, Management Rep, Rev Obot Ekanem, the  Advisory Representative for Mkpat Enin, Obong Innocent Idem, EMOIMEE Consultant for Mkpat Enin local government area, Obong Emmanuel Jacobs, Project Officer for EMOIMEE, Mrs Ekemini Samuel Essien, Medical consultant Prof. Ettete Peters, among others. 

Equipments donated to Cottage Hospital ikot Abia were: four nebuliser, eight hospital beds and  mattress, four wheel chairs, four sphygmomanometer, five stethoscope, one delivery bed, two baby couch, four screens, four drip stand, 10 pillows and pillow cases, four infrared thermometer, four hospital trolley, two rechargeable light, one oxygen concentrator, three pulse oximeter, assorted drugs for treatment of long term ailments (anti-hypertensive and anti-diabetics), assorted emergency lifesaving drugs, assorted consumables, 20 rolls of cotton wool, 15 liters of methylated spirit, fibe rolls of sterile gauze, five cartons of disposable gloves, two cartons of examination gloves, one file cabinet, one Theater lamp with stand, one electric steriliser, two anesthetic stools, five long artery forceps, five small artery forceps, four kocher artery forceps, five surgical scissors, two manual vacuum aspiration machine, nine sponge holding forceps, five manual sphygmomanometer , three stethoscope, four stretchers, four kidney dishes, four gallipots, four Theater boots, two oxygen cylinder, suction machine, two wheel chairs, two examination couch, six nylon 2/0, five chromic 2, four chromic 2/0, five nylon 2, one microscope, one centrifuge, one generator 7.5kg, one hand drier and one autoclave machine. 

Drugs donated were: 100 packs of Tabs Amlodipime 10mg, 50 packs of Tabs lisinopril 10mg, 50 packs of Tabs Metformin 500mg, 90 packs of Tabs glimepiride 4mg, 90 packs of Tabs glibenclaride 5mg, 40 packs of Tabs didofenac 100mg, 50 packs of Tabs vasoprine 75mg, 100 packs of Tabs ketoconazole 200mg, 100 packs of Tabs hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg, 50 packs of Tabs losartan, and 100 packs of Tabs albenadole 400 mg. 

Medical equipment and drugs donated to Primary Health Center, Ikot Akata, were: one autoclave, three office tables, three office chairs, 10 pedal bins, eight biohazard bags, one stretcher, one angle poised lamp and stand, five hospital beds, five hospital mattresses, one file cabinet, three office chairs with arm, one incubator, three wall clock, one gas cylinder 12.6kg, one cooker, five bedside locker, assorted drugs for children, assorted hospital consumables, 18 rolls of cotton wool, 10 liters of methylated spirit, four rolls sterile gauze, five cartons of disposable gloves, two cartons examination gloves, assorted drugs for pregnant women, four children weighing scale, four chromic, and five nylon 1. For drugs, 100 bottles of suspension arthemether/lumefantrine, 100 packs tabs of arthemeter/lumefantrine, 50 bottle of suspension amoxicillin, 72 packs of metronidazole tabs, 65 packs of suspension co-trimoxazole, 50 tins of ascorbic acid tabs, 48 tins of ferrous sulfate, 50 tins of B-Complex tabs, 30 tins of folic acid tabs, and 48 tins of  multivitamins tabs.
