BREAKING: We didn’t arrest Magu – DSS



The Department for State Security (DSS) on Monday denied media reports of the arrest of acting Chairman of Economic Financial and Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Peter Afunanya, the DSS said: “The Department of State Services (DSS) wishes to inform the public that it did not arrest Ibrahim MAGU, Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as has been reported by sections of the media.

“The Service, has since, today, 6th July, 2020, been inundated with enquiries over the alleged arrest.”

Magu is undergoing questioning at the Presidential Villa by a probe panel over allegation diversion of looted funds and assets.

The Senate President Godswill Akpabio and 10 senators are expected to receive the 2023 governorship candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in Akwa Ibom State, Bassey Albert, into the All Progressives Congress (APC) today, Friday, in Akwa Ibom. A source, who disclosed this to PREMIUM TIMES, said the event will take place in the afternoon at Mr Akpabio’s hometown, Ukana, Essien Udim Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom. “The senators are already in town, they are lodging at a hotel in Ikot Ekpene.
