2023 guber :Obong Attah Cannot Mislead Akwa Ibom -Rev. Eliathah
Obong Victor Attach, Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State
The Chairman contact and mobilization of the fathers in faith, Rev (Dr.) Hilkiah Eliathah has said that former governor of Akwa Ibom state, Obong Victor Attah who is favourably disposed to the preference of Pastor Umo Eno by Governor Udom Emmanuel as his successor loves Akwa Ibom state too much to want to mislead it at this critical point in its history.
Eliathah made this known recently in his office during an interview with The Eyes Newspaper reporter in Uyo.
He said Obong Attah has proved himself to possess qualities that puts him above the traps of selfishness and could not be hoodwinked with material things to make crucial decisions.
"We were all here when Obong Victor Attah was the governor of this state. He never did anything for his own personal interest. He did not even take any step to place an infrastructure in a particular location, except he is sure it is in the best and overall interest of the whole state. If a man like this is pointing the way to follow as far as who succeeds the governor is concerned, he cannot be wrong"Eliarha explained.
Stating that what a father sees sitting down, no child can see it even if he climbs the highest tree, Eliathah noted that Obong Attah has considered the needs of Akwa Ibom state and has come to the conclusion that the man who can continue from where Governor Udom will stop is Pastor Umo Eno
According to Eliathah, Obong Attah who is rightly referred to as the father of modern Akwa Ibom knows where Akwa Ibom is presently in terms of development and where it ought to be in the next administration and has therefore offered his timely advice to the people on the succession plan, noting that a voice like that of the former governor is divine
Dr Eliathah who decried the disrespectful manner some youths talk to elders in the state said it is becoming sickening
"In some climes a man like Obong Attah will be deified and when he speaks on any matter everyone will see it as a voice from God. But our society unfortunately waste the opportunity to benefit from a sage like Obong Attah. Instead very young people will find it convenient to even challenge his opinions. This is most unfortunate." He said
Eliathah warned youths to desist from disrespecting elders as this in itself has very serious spiritual implications, admonishing youths to rather learn from elders and grow.
