NGO BOOKS 5,000 VULNERABLE FOR FEEDING ANNUALLY

In a bid to reduce hunger and improve nutrition among less privileged Children and Women inline with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a non-governmental organization, Aniedi Etim Foundation, is targeting 5000 malnourished and vulnerable members of the society for feeding annually.

The gesture cuts across all Nigerians, irrespective of ethnicity.

At a flag off of the Streets Feeding Programme in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, the Founder and  Chief Executive of Aniedi Etim Foundation, Miss Aniedi Etim, said the outreach for street children is a practical demonstration of the Foundation's mission to enhance the welfare of underprivileged children through education, health and nutrition.

"This philanthropic act is to ensure that abandoned children roaming the streets with no shelter, have a sense of belonging as hunger is a global problem," she added.

The Streets feeding programme saw members of the Aniedi Etim Foundation, led by the Founder, going round the streets of Uyo distributing food to the less privileged Children and Women, many of whom could not afford a square meal in a day.

Not more than 506 children and women received free meals during the exercise with the CEO of Aniedi Etim Founder, promising to increase the number to 5000 annually.

Report from the United Nations food agencies shows that  around the world, 690 million people regularly go to bed hungry. Sadly, also, 45% of all child deaths worldwide are from causes of undernutrition.

"Food is life, food makes children healthy and happy. We want our mission of kindness to inspire everyone to look around and remember the abandoned children on the streets...for the future depends entirely on what each of us does for the child today," Miss Aniedi Etim advised.
